One of the main concerns St Kilda Marina Members have is the ongoing problem regarding depth at the entrance/exit to St Kilda Marina. As discussed in detail on this site, the fact is that adequate depth maintenance at the marina exit/entrance is extremely poor.
To assist our members with safe navigation, St Kilda Marina Club has implemented an Entrance Depth Danger Alert System that will update all concerned with the latest info on the depth situation at St Kilda Marina.
The Entrance Depth Danger Alert System provides three levels of bottom strike risk alerts:
Low - Entrance level is being maintained and is generally safe to navigate
Medium - Entrance level is need of attention and due care should be exercised
High - Entrance level is very shallow and extreme caution must be taken
Members are advised to ALWAYS take care when navigating the entrance/exit to St Kilda Marina.
The fact is that the entrance to St Kilda Marina IS always shallow. Tidal currents - and a consistent lack of ongoing depth maintenance by Marina Management, can and will cause you problems if you’re not careful.
