Since we made the decision to go public, and at the urging of many SKMC members and friends, and other boat owners across the bay, decided to run this story, we've been inundated with more horror stories from Melbourne's boating community regarding their treatment at the hands of St Kilda Boat Sales and St Kilda Boat Service Centre.

In fact, we're actually having trouble keeping up with the reports that are flowing in, and we apologise for the delays in updating these pages.

SKMC is managed voluntarily by boat owners - for all other boat owners, as a labour of love. We all have our own jobs and businesses to attend to and we manage the club and the site as best we can, when we can.

We want all our valued contributors to know that we are receiving your emails, and we'll be posting every story as time allows. We thank everyone for their interest, and their patience.

We also have a message for any other boat owners out there with their own horror stories that in many cases - out of fear of retribution, or the desire not to have stress over their boat problems, or the belief that there was nothing they could do about it - have sucked it in and have not yet shared their story:

Don't be scared. The more information, good and bad, that boaties can share with each other makes us all wiser and can only result in higher standards throughout the industry.

There really are some sensational, reliable, professional and honest suppliers of marine goods and services around the bay. But there is also small minority of operators whose performance, customer service, quality of work and (more than anything) whose ethics are simply disgraceful and should not be tolerated. People have a right to know the truth and SKMC will continue to do everything we can to ensure they do.

Nothing can change the shape of things to come.
